QUEEN CAMILLA TO TAKE A BREAK FROM ROYAL DUTIES WEEKS AFTER KING CHARLES’ CANCER DIAGNOSIS

After a challenging few weeks where she’s been shouldering much of the responsibility for the royals, Queen Camilla is reportedly taking a step back from her duties.

Hello! reports that Camilla will have a short, week-long hiatus from royal engagements, with her schedule clear of any duties that would otherwise keep her busy.

It’s said that the Queen will resume work on March 11, leading the Royal Family for the Commonwealth Day service at Westminster Abbey. Other senior royals will step in for her in the meantime, according to reports.

It’s no secret that King Charles’s recent health issues have led him to step back from his usual royal duties. The King was diagnosed with an unspecified form of cancer last month after receiving treatment for an enlarged prostate, and is currently undergoing further treatment.

Adding to the challenges was Kate Middleton’s hospitalization and subsequent recovery period, possibly limiting Prince William’s ability to assist as much as he might have otherwise.

To fill the void, Queen Camilla has taken on more royal duties, including representing the royals at the memorial service for the late King Constantine of Greece last week.

This pause from engagements is likely a welcome break for Camilla, who Hello! reports will spend her ‘week off’ with King Charles and various other family members.

As for Charles, it’s been well documented how the King has been splitting his time between London and the royal estate of Sandringham in Norfolk, England. The monarch continues to undergo treatment, though the royals have not revealed what type of cancer he is suffering from, nor what stage it is at.

During a meeting with British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, King Charles admitted to having been moved to tears by the messages of support he’s received from the public since his diagnosis. As for Charles’s recovery, the general message put forth by the royals is that he is doing well and remaining positive.

Indeed, the same sentiment extends to Kate Middleton, who was hospitalized in late January for a planned abdominal procedure.

The future Queen has been recuperating at home following her 13-day stay at the London Clinic and isn’t expected to resume engagements until after Easter. The lack of updates from the Palace has prompted concern among royal fans about Kate’s well-being, though it was reiterated last week that there is no cause for alarm.

“We were very clear from the outset that the Princess of Wales would be out until after Easter, and Kensington Palace would only provide updates when something significant occurred,” Kensington Palace stated.

Here’s to wishing King Charles and Queen Camilla a pleasant few days in each other’s company.
