Meghan Markle ‘may have felt considerable envy and later jealousy towards Kate Middleton,’ according to a royal commentator.

Ingrid Stewart, editor of Majesty magazine, proposed to The Telegraph that the Duchess of Sussex, aged 42, might have envied her husband Prince Harry’s tight bond with Kate, akin to siblings.

He always wished for a sister, he confided in Diana about that. Psychologically, I think he just admired her, always there at Kensington Palace, asking, ‘What’s for supper?’

Elsewhere, Ingrid, whose latest book centers on King Charles III’s bond with the late Queen Elizabeth II, mentioned the Duchess’s feelings of jealousy, suggesting she ‘envisioned herself as a princess living in Windsor Castle.’

Instead, Meghan and Harry, now residing in California after stepping back from royal duties, initially found themselves in Nottingham Cottage, which Harry jokingly referred to as ‘my hovel,’ while ‘William and Kate enjoyed their beautiful house.’

The royal commentator continued, ‘I believe Meghan must have felt incredibly envious and then jealous of Kate.’

‘I heard Meghan even thought she would become a princess and reside in Windsor Castle. Instead, there’s William and Kate in their lovely home, while they were in Nottingham Cottage, which Harry dubbed “my hovel”.’

While Ingrid doesn’t dismiss the possibility of reconciliation entirely, she suggests that both physical and metaphorical distance make it unlikely.

In December, a source told The Telegraph that Meghan ‘felt she had more of a right to speak’ than Kate at certain events because she was ‘self-made.’

Allegedly, the Duchess felt uncomfortable with the Prince and Princess of Wales holding a higher position in the palace hierarchy when she joined the Royal Family.

This tension was notably felt during a Royal Foundation Forum in February 2018, where the rift between the ‘Fab Four’ was evident.

Meghan felt ‘she was a self-made woman whereas Kate hadn’t really pursued her own career,’ a source said.

The source added, ‘She seemed to feel she had more right to speak than her sister-in-law, who had married into the family as an unknown, while Meghan saw herself as a philanthropist who could offer the royals insights into charity work. I think she found it challenging that the Royal Foundation was already well-established by the time she arrived.’

However, Omid Scobie previously claimed in his book ‘Finding Freedom’ that Kate failed to establish a ‘meaningful’ relationship with Meghan.

It was also reported that Meghan received a ‘lukewarm’ reception from the ‘formal’ William and Kate when her relationship with Prince Harry became serious.

According to Harry’s book ‘Spare,’ when he introduced Meghan to his brother, Kate remained in the garden, which wasn’t the welcome they had anticipated.

This update follows reports from the Daily Mail’s Richard Eden revealing that the Princess of Wales underwent ‘successful’ planned abdominal surgery over three weeks ago and is now recovering.

In a promising sign of her progress, she joined her husband, Prince William, and their children for a half-term holiday on the Sandringham estate in Norfolk, where the King is also recuperating.

‘A friend mentioned, ‘Catherine is doing well. She was looking forward to a change of scenery and will be able to relax in Norfolk while the children have fun with William.’

The Princess, aged 42, left the London Clinic 12 days ago after nearly two weeks of treatment.

In the only official statement from Kensington Palace about her health, a spokesperson announced on January 17 that, ‘based on current medical advice, she is unlikely to resume public duties until after Easter.’

The spokesperson did not provide specifics about the surgery, but sources confirmed it was not related to cancer.

Since leaving the hospital without being photographed, Catherine has been at Adelaide Cottage, the family’s four-bedroom home at Windsor Home Park.

Her children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, all attend Lambrook School, a 15-minute drive away in Berkshire. They started their week-long half-term holiday on Friday.
