King Charles is ‘frustrated’ by the pace of his cancer recovery, his nephew says as first royal member to speak in detail
|King Charles is feeling frustrated by the pace of his cancer recovery,” revealed a member of the royal family, offering a rare glimpse into the palace regarding the king’s sentiments about his illness.
“He’s frustrated that he can’t resume all the activities he wants to,” shared Peter Phillips, the king’s nephew and the eldest of the late Queen Elizabeth’s grandchildren.
The 75-year-old monarch received a diagnosis of an unspecified cancer in February, following surgery for an enlarged prostate the previous month, as previously disclosed by the palace. This has left him seemingly eager to return to his full duties as he recuperates.
King Charles’ nephew Peter Phillips said that the monarch is “frustrated” about the pace of his cancer recovery.
Phillips was the first member of the royal family to speak in detail about Charles’ condition.
While awaiting recovery, according to Phillips, King Charles has been gently prodding his team of doctors for updates on when he can resume his duties.
He’s constantly pushing his staff, including his doctors and nurses, to determine what activities he can engage in,” Phillips remarked during an interview with Sky News Australia on Sunday.
In early March, King Charles had to participate in the Commonwealth Day ceremony via a pre-recorded video address. While he hopes to attend an Easter service in April, it’s still uncertain whether he will be able to join.
On Thursday, Queen Camilla expressed that her husband was “doing very well” while interacting with fans in Northern Ireland.
The uplifting news concerning King Charles comes shortly after the revelation that Kate Middleton is undergoing preventative chemotherapy for cancer.
In a video statement on Friday, the Princess of Wales disclosed that doctors detected cancer during abdominal surgery she underwent back in January. Middleton appeared visibly thinner in the video and did not disclose the specific type of cancer she was diagnosed with.
“As you can imagine, this has been a process. It took time for me to recover from major surgery before starting my treatment,” she stated.
“However, most importantly, it took time for us to explain everything to George, Charlotte, and Louis in a way that was appropriate for their understanding and to reassure them that I will be alright,” she added, referring to her children with Prince William.
This revelation dispelled various speculations about Middleton’s health that arose after her prolonged absence from the public eye, followed by the release of a heavily edited photograph by the royal family, purportedly taken recently.
